HUMIQ visualisatie-project Hoogheemraadschap Delfland

03/01/2010

PVSS GIS Viewer, a brand-new feature of the latest version of PVSS has become established in the first project in the Netherlands. The Dutch system integrator HUMIQ has developed a new control system named WaterProof for Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland to get better and faster water level information in the Delfland area. HUMIQ (formerly ICT Procos) focuses on providing services to industrial companies, including water boards, regional planning authorities, water extraction, water purification facilities and water quality & water management activities

The project concerns a water level regulation in the region Delfland, one of Netherland's water authorities. 1,4 million people live there and 40.000 companies are located in the 41.000ha large Delfland area. The region is located far below sea level. And if a dune or dike should give way, the land behind it would flood.

To limit the danger, Delfland maintains the sea and river flood defense structures and quays. Therefore, many pumping stations and water inlets are used to regulate the water level to react on rainfall and dry periods. The water level of more than 220 geographical distributed field measurement stations, which are connected via ADSL and/or UMTS, are monitored and controlled by PVSS. Additional over 100 SMS level measurement devices are placed in the field. So every 15 minutes the operators are updated with all level information, and if necessary, they can immediately react by giving new control levels to all pumping stations in only one minute! Thus, the operator has an overall overview and control over the complete system.

PVSS GIS Viewer provides Automatic zoom to upcoming alarms and warnings or easy navigation to any user interface, alarm and event screen. It is directly linked to related alarms and therefore PVSS GIS Viewer is perfectly integrated into the SCADA application.
